Blog
Dear Art Friends,
This is an introduction to my art blog. I have wanted to do this for a long time because between commissions and large gallery paintings I do little oil sketches of ideas for future paintings or just small things of beauty that strike me at odd moments. Because I paint every day, after a while, these little canvases add up. So I thought I would share them with you. I will be sending them out about every week or two. If you enjoy them, please forward them to friends on your email list. If you do not want to be bothered, no problem just cancel the blog.
So, please consider joining my weekly newsletter (see link below).
Thanks, Nancy Paris Pruden
Guadalupe River's Bend

NEW PAINTING OF AN OLD RIVER
The Guadalupe River runs from Kerr County, Texas, through the Hill Country to San Antonio Bay on the Gulf of Mexico. Many Texas children have grown up tubing on the North Fork of the Guadalupe, descending to Canyon Dam, which forms Canyon Lake. My favorite part of the river is the upper part with limestone banks shaded by pecan and bald cypress trees. Fortunately, I have friends with property in this area so have spent many lovely days plein air painting here. The river was first named Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe by Spanish settlers in 1689, but evidence indicates that it has been home to humans for several thousand years. Artifacts from the Archaic era have been found in the valley. It is also a truly Texas river as it starts and ends in Texas. If you look at my website under "Landscapes" you will note that most of my paintings are of this river or this country. Inspiration comes when you fall in love with something and even though I am a bonified "City Girl" this land speaks to me. This painting along with other new works is at "The Good Art Company" on Main Street in Fredericksburg, Texas.
