Blog

Dear Art Friends,

This is an introduction to my art blog. I have wanted to do this for a long time because between commissions and large gallery paintings I do little oil sketches of ideas for future paintings or just small things of beauty that strike me at odd moments. Because I paint every day, after a while, these little canvases add up. So I thought I would share them with you. I will be sending them out about every week or two. If you enjoy them, please forward them to friends on your email list. If you do not want to be bothered, no problem just cancel the blog.

So, please consider joining my weekly newsletter (see link below).

Thanks, Nancy Paris Pruden

COOL WATER

It's so hot in Texas that I decided to focus my painting on cool things. I just got back from 10 days on an island on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and we spent every day swimming in the lake. My family's property is on a peninsula, which includes a Lilly pond with frogs! My grandchildren spend untold hours exploring the pond and the forest behind it. I brought all my paints thinking they might want to paint with me but alas, there were just too many other things to discover. So, this is my first plein air of the summer season which I painted while they caught frogs. I think WATER will be the theme of 2023.

A Tribute to Marjorie

BEAUTIFUL AND DEEP

Marjorie Cook Hutcheson died June 27, 2023, after fighting a long and hard battle with cancer, but the past 5 years were not what defined her. She was always strong in spirit and deep in her commitment to living a life of Grace and Devotion to her family and community. Her husband and most ardent admirer of over 40 years bought this painting for her birthday a few years ago. I think it mirrors her personality perfectly; beautiful on the surface, but able to reflect the best of their qualities to those she loved. She left behind a large group of friends and admirers. Her Memorial service was a packed tribute to all the people she touched and who loved her.

NEW ENGLAND GOES CRAZY

The 4th of July is the ultimate holiday up here in New England. Let's face it, it's miserably cold half of the year, and summer only lasts 3 months at best, so no wonder they go crazy about the 4th of July. I am on an island on Lake Winnipesaukee (a very large lake) in New Hampshire. Coming from Texas, I never heard of Lake Winnipesaukee until my daughter and son-in-law bought this place 5 years ago. Last Saturday night there was a huge fireworks display by a private family across the lake. All the neighbor's kids came over to see it on our dock. I tried to upload a video, but alas, the file was too big. I bet by tonight the pyromaniacs around here will blow up the island. Can't Wait! Happy 4th of July!
