Blog

Dear Art Friends,

This is an introduction to my art blog. I have wanted to do this for a long time because between commissions and large gallery paintings I do little oil sketches of ideas for future paintings or just small things of beauty that strike me at odd moments. Because I paint every day, after a while, these little canvases add up. So I thought I would share them with you. I will be sending them out about every week or two. If you enjoy them, please forward them to friends on your email list. If you do not want to be bothered, no problem just cancel the blog.

So, please consider joining my weekly newsletter (see link below).

Thanks, Nancy Paris Pruden

MONKEY BUSINESS

It's so much fun when friends bring you delightful treasures from their collection to paint! There is only one more week to go on my "Painting a Day Challenge", so if you have something from your favorite collection, please, bring it to me! Objects do seem to pick up the character of their owners, so it's obvious that the owner of this monkey pitcher has a delightful quirky personality! Can't you tell? The idea behind this exercise is to paint FAST, and then DON'T go back and correct it the next day. Move on! I have noticed with each passing day, I am getting more sure of myself and I brushstrokes are more decisive. Guess that's what this is all about. "When you can't go back, you only have to worry about the best way to go forward".

30PAINTINGS IN 30 DAYS

Premier Coup means first "go" or first try. In other words all at once. In painting, this means you don't go back the next day and try to "Fix" an area. Everything is done in one sitting and from Life. During this Pandemic, I have decided a good way to spend my time is to do a Challenge of 30 Paintings in 30 Day; Premier Coup . While it is a good discipline and it is a great way to improve, at 19 Days I am getting tired. Good News is, I will have a lot of small paintings for little gifts for Christmas! So, if you see something you like, let me know. If you have a burning desire for say, an artichoke or lemon painting, I can do that. Most of these are just things I see around the house and all are on stretched canvas. They will be priced between $100. and $300. so affordable for everyone. When I finish November 19, I will put them on my "Daily Paintworks" store or you can contact me here. If you have never been to the store, Click Below. I have plein air landscape paintings as well. Notes on Election Day

This pleinair was done a couple of weeks ago, close to sunset, at my friend's ranch near Ingram, Texas. I have no idea where this road leads, but was captured with the light on the distant hills. It brought to mind a thought, that the older I get, the more I realize I am no longer sure of where my life is going either. I am also aware, that I am not in control of the outcome. Today is Election Day,and it is just one more example of being out of control, so I am giving it up to God, a Higher Power, or whatever you want to call it. Yes, we can vote, and yes, we can try to live responsibly and do the "Right Thing", but at the end of the day I believe God is in charge. We are all on the Road to Somewhere and like the quote in the movie says; "if it doesn't turn out for the best in the End, well maybe this is not the End."
