Painting Workshop in San Miguel

The Summer of 2010 will be the seventh year I have taken people on a painting trip to San Miguel. The house I am renting this year is equally as beautiful as past year’s, but just two blocks from the Jardin. It is quite large but I will only rent out 4 big rooms so I can concentrate on YOU! This is a great way to jump start your experience of Pleine air painting. Since room is limited and I only do this for 2 weeks, the sooner you sign up the better! Click on “Workshops” to the left for more information.

This week’s painting was the last little painting I did before leaving San Miguel last summer. The patio of Casa Carmen has always been a favorite place to enjoy a leisurely lunch in a friendly setting with delicious food. I’m glad I took the time to stop one more time before I left.

Three White Peonies

New Year’s Resolution

I have been writing this blog for a year now and I want you to know how much I have enjoyed hearing from you! However: since the New Year is suppose to be about evaluating where you have been and where you are going, I thought it would be a good idea to change things a little bit.

This year I will be working on bigger paintings as well as my portrait business and hopefully have a show at Harris Gallery the end of this year or the first of next year. Therefore, I probably will not have time to paint many of these little paintings. I hope you will continue to view my “works in progress” and I will try to continue to make this process educational and maybe even entertaining.

This painting of “Three White Peonies” is an idea for a bigger painting I have started. The theme is white on white with a dark vase. I am continuing to explore shapes instead of focusing on just the subject matter. Hopefully the value shapes will be so interesting you won’t care what the subject matter is… but to be safe… who doesn’t love peonies?

Again, Thank you for viewing my art, Nancy

New Year’s in the Desert

My family cooked up this plan to go to Palm Desert and play golf for a week over New Year’s. Only trouble was that I am the only member of my family who doesn’t play golf… Luckily, I brought along my paints. This place is impossibly beautiful! The mountains are HUGE and purple and the grass on the fairways is so green it hurts your eyes. The desert is yellow, red, and pink. The desert plants are that silvery sage color, WOW! This is the view out of our balcony. Next time my family wants to go on a golfing vacation I will know to get excited.
