Three Pink Roses

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

I love to paint roses so I often buy them just to enjoy around the house. Of course, the best roses are the home grown variety but alas, I have a brown thumb. Sometimes friends and neighbors will give me some they have grown (hint, hint) but if not there is always the local grocery store variety. These pretty pink roses were part of a multi-colored bouquet I could not resist. The painting is 8″x 10″, Oil on linen board.

Yellow and Pink Roses

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

This is another grouping from that multicolored bouquet. The bud vase in this painting is one of three my friend Sallie gave me. I will use the other two in other paintings soon. This painting is also 8″x10″.

White Camellia

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

My sister called the other day and said her camellias were blooming and they were beautiful. So, since it was another spring like day in February, I packed up my paints and went to her house. There under a bush was a hugh white camellia. It looked like a moon coming up in the shadows of that bush. Then the sunlight  peeked through and raked just a little light over the bloom. I could not set up fast enough! That afternoon the sun came in and out so I had to remember the look of that moment. Hope you think I got it.  ( By the way all these little oil sketches start at $99. )
